Today I had I shot an executive portrait. Sort of one of those deals where you have 10-15 minutes to get your shot. The gentleman was a great sport and very kind. Here's my good buddy Thad who came along with me to help out. thadaman.com.

...Speaking of blessings. (see previous post)

This was the first time I had taken the family on a shoot with me. Regan and I were little unsure of how our daughter would handle all the traveling. She's like her old man and doesn't like being cooped up for too long. We started with a trip to Georgetown, SC, to visit Granny and Poppy (Regan's grandparents). After spending the night and with four locations (in 2 days) ahead of us, we said our goodbyes, packed up the gear and headed north. First shot Sunset Beach, then Holden Beach, Southport, Atlantic Beach and finally ending in Emerald Isle for a vacation with my side of the family.

So lots of driving, in and out of the car seat, sticky high chairs and new places for our little one.

I must say, we are so proud of her. She did great! She saw every new place as an adventure. One of the locations was the Provision Company in Southport. A great seafood restaurant right on the water where the wait staff yells out your name when your food is up. She loved this idea! At one point a waitress came out and yelled 'Megan!' Lil' g, noticing that she didn't get a response decided to help her out by yelling 'Egan!!' Sure enough 'Egan' raised her hand.

After finishing up the coastal photo assignment we met up with my family in Emerald Isle. For the second year in a row, and what I hope becomes a yearly tradition, we all headed out to The Aquarium. Last year Lil' g was too little to really take it all in and sleep most of the way through as cousin Graham dashed around trying to get a good look at the 'shayks'.

But not this year! She couldn't believe it! All the animals in her books had come to life. I don't know what was cuter...giving the turtle a kiss, offering a 'cwacka' to the school of fish or the giggly snuggle I got by the alligators.

I've been very fortunate lately to have a lot of photography assignments. I just ended one that took me from Sunset Beach to Holden Beach to Southport and ended in Atlantic Beach. After the last frame was shot, I packed up my gear, jumped in the car and drove 20 minutes west to start my family vacation in Emerald Isle.

The weather has been perfect up until about an hour ago. But even now, with the pouring rain and dreariness, I couldn't think of another landscape that I'd rather be looking at right now. I love being near the ocean. And this current assignment hasn't felt like work at all. On Tuesday evening, just before sunset, I found my self photographing a longboarder 'hanging ten' from an old wooden pier. I couldn't believe it, there I was in my favorite environment, doing what I love to do and getting paid for it. It was a great blessing.

I've gotten some editorial work recently that involves shooting food and restaurants. And if you've taken a look at my site then you'll notice there isn't one image of food. So I'm very thankful for the clients taking a risk and hiring me. It also meant that I needed to do a little practicing and testing.

Here's a pizza that Regan and I made the other night.
Homemade dough
Homemade Pesto with basil from our garden
Fresh Mozzarella
Sungold tomatoes from our garden
Red tomatoes from our garden as well.

Instead of rolling the dough out on flour we used Corn Muffin mix which gave it the crust a sweet flavor.

Add a little side salad with avocado and a glass of pino and walla!
